The plan was to be at the NY at the National Stationery Show. 

Well, the trains had their wreck and so did my plan. 

The odd thing is I knew peripherally that there had been a wreck…and/but I didn't connect the dots for my intended journey to NY on Monday.  My partner brought it to my attention.  Thank you!

Many, many phone calls to Amtrak about the track and no traction on that until late Sunday night . . . given my schedule was for a 5:50 a.m. I went to sleep knowing my plans had been derailed.

Now for the bed and breakfast that has a 15 days no return cancellation policy.  HUM!

I reasoned they might need that room for a stranded traveler.  So I went ahead and made the call and the request…and don't you know.. there was mercy.  A win/win for all.

So make a plan, watch it get wrecked…make the calls, never resist asking for the refund by suggesting a win/win definitely worked in my favor and thus theirs.  How cool is that?  I am safe and they will be harboring a traveler in need
